01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the charming locale of Vaucresson, France, Il Caravaggio invites diners to embark on an authentic culinary journey through Southern Italy. This Italian and pizza restaurant captures hearts with its impeccably crafted dishes and warm ambiance, making it a beloved spot for both casual meals and special occasions.

The menu at Il Caravaggio is a celebration of true Italian flavors, featuring an array of thoughtfully prepared pizzas that showcase traditional ingredients and innovative combinations. Among the classics, the Margherita stands out with its vibrant tomato sauce, creamy fior di latte mozzarella, and fragrant basil — a perfect harmony of freshness and simplicity priced at €12. For those craving a heartier experience, the Quattro Stagioni delights with spicy salame piccante, savory jambon, earthy mushrooms, and tender artichokes, delivering a taste of Italy’s diverse regions in every bite.

Pizza lovers looking for something unique will find themselves drawn to specialties like the Tartufo, where decadent truffle cream mingles with melted mozzarella, delicate mushrooms, peppery roquette, and shavings of parmesan, offering an indulgent flavor profile at €19. The Véritable Calzone Napolitain, bursting with ricotta, mozzarella, and spicy salame, invites diners to savor rustic Neapolitan charm at €13. These dishes highlight the authenticity and culinary passion at the heart of Il Caravaggio.

Complementing the food is the relaxed yet intimate atmosphere that patrons have come to cherish. Guests like Kelli Mayhew praise the restaurant for its approachable vibe and attentive service that raise the dining experience beyond the ordinary. The outdoor garden seating adds an alluring element, especially in spring and summer, where you can enjoy your meal enveloped by lush greenery — though, as noted by James McMurray, it’s wise to choose your spot carefully to fully appreciate this quaint setting.

Beyond pizzas, the restaurant’s pasta and seafood dishes have garnered acclaim. The truffle pasta, recommended by Anne Diss, enchants with its rich and creamy textures, while Lucia Suarez extols the quality of their pasta with clams, some of the finest in the region. Even with some dishes, like the lasagne mentioned by Pantea Pedram, showing room for personal taste preferences, the consistent theme remains the use of high-quality ingredients and a genuine dedication to flavor.

Whether you’re settling in for a romantic dinner, enjoying a lively working lunch, or grabbing a quick takeaway, Il Caravaggio delivers an Italian dining experience characterized by authenticity, passion, and a touch of refined elegance. With reasonably priced pizzas and well-curated drink options such as the Corsican Pietra chestnut beer and iconic Italian Peroni, this restaurant perfectly balances tradition with contemporary dining pleasures.

Took a bus and walked a mile to get to IL Caravaggio, but it was worth it. Service was a little slow getting started but the waitress guided me in my desire not to order too much food. Had an amazing burrata and Saltimbocca which had a lot of processed meats. Sat on the patio. Be selective where you sit out there, there are some odd seating areas. There's a huge yew shrub that takes up the space of three tables

Very friendly, cosy, welcoming restaurant. Ideal for a romantic meal but also for a fun working lunch. The truffle pasta is delicious. Staff is helpful and attentive. In Spring and summer tables are set up outside, they are a little bit close together but it's still a great place to have a meal.

Friendly staff, and some of the best pizzas and pasta wirh clams around in the area It can be a bit pricey if you go for dessert, coffee and drink as well but the pizza on its own is very well priced for the quality.

Nice restaurant with a beautiful garden , the food is good and a a little expensive . I tried lasagne which was kind of without any taste but the quality of the ingredients were good. The advantage of this restaurant is that the staff are kind and helpful and also you don’t need to wait for a long time for your food, although the restaurant was almost crowded we had our food 15 min after ordering .

I was here at Saturday evening. Due to our late reservation we had to sit in the tent in front of the restaurant. But with the heater it was ok. Unfortunately the bottom of my pizza was completely burnt. Dark spots are ok, but here the whole bottom was almost black. I have to subtract two stars for that. On the other hand the staff was very kind, so here's an extra star for that. :-) By the way, the young woman with the curly hair is the most beautiful waitress ever! ;-)

The place is very chic and the staff are friendly. If you're not French, they speak English and Italian, which is helpful. Tried the pizzas: Margherita & Regina, both very good. The ice creams they serve are premium quality and the pannacotta is also very nice.
